I’ve probably had the most fun bringing Blakely’s big girl room to life. As with the rest of the house, I wanted to make it a cozy and inviting place for her to be proud of while also staying functional and practical for her to play in. I was also mindful of how this room could evolve over the years so it can grow up with her.
The large floor to ceiling window provides so much natural light which automatically makes this space inviting. It also allowed me to have some fun with her light fixture knowing that it would need to put off light in the evening but during the day it would primarily stay turned off. I started with this wood bead chandelier as the piece to build the entire room around and I think it’s turned out so cute.
We kept the same color that we have in the main living area, Sherwin Williams City Loft, consistent in every room including Blakely’s, with the exception of the wall her bed is on. It’s hard to tell in the photo but you’ll notice a slight difference. It’s a very subtle pink color: Sherwin Williams Polite White.
Her classic white metal twin bed was an easy choice because it will continue to be appropriate regardless of her age. I’ve always preferred quilts over comforters. I can see us changing up the bedding often to fit her style over the years. For now, this one ties the pink and coral together to add pops of color to the room. I’m hoping to find a rug that will add some dimension to the floor as well.
I find much of her decor from places like Hobby Lobby, HomeGoods and TJ Maxx. Her floating shelf above her bed is from IKEA (so affordable!), antique dresser is actually mine from my childhood bedroom, much of the storage like her bookshelf and open storage bench are from Target. I’ve linked as much as possible below for the items that are still available.
I look forward to watching this room change over the years as Miss B continues to grow!
