I swoon over masculine meets feminine looks. Show me a leather jacket paired with a full skirt or lace with a military jacket and I’m in love.
I try to outfit plan as much as possible so I’m not frantically trying to navigate my way through the chaos that is my closet in the midst of my busy mornings. BUT on those days when I don’t have my act together, I find a ‘boy meets girl’ approach is the easiest/quickest way to pair pieces to achieve a balanced and complete look.
If I start with a feminine piece like this lace pencil skirt, I look for a masculine piece like this military jacket to even it out. There are so many ways to do this… and in a hurry! Identify masculine items in your closet (boyfriend tee/leather jacket/boyfriend jeans etc.) versus the very feminine pieces (statement necklaces/lace/skirts etc). It makes rushing and throwing together a look so much easier if you know you’re looking for one of each. Mixing and matching them together is what makes it fun. The more you do this, the more natural and effortless it becomes.
The best part: what a perfect way to expand your wardrobe by exploring his side of the closet. Go ahead… steal his look. Chances are you will look better in it than he ever will 😉
