Back to school shopping isn’t just about the kids. Our dedicated teachers need a closet boost at the beginning of the year too!
I’ve teamed up with The Empire Mall in Sioux Falls to bring you the 5 pieces every teacher needs to add to their wardrobe to be prepared for the school year ahead.
1.) A Basic Tee
A new basic tee is a must for any teacher’s closet. It’s perfect for pairing with work pants, a skirt or even jeans for a more casual day in the classroom. Pick a basic t-shirt that’s soft, comfortable and breathable. I know we all have basic tees in our closets but starting the year in a fresh t-shirt is important. No pit stains here folks! Buy a few new ones in a couple neutral colors so you’re set for the upcoming year. My entire outfit was found in The Empire Mall: Tee {19.90}, bracelet cuff {$19.90} and jeans {$79.90) are from Express // Blazer {$198} is from Banana Republic // Flats {$99.00} found in Younkers
2.) A Unique Jacket
Regardless of the size of your wardrobe, a unique jacket can be paired with just about anything in your closet. I chose this one from The Empire Mall’s Gap store because it can do just that. This jacket can complete just about any look. It’s super comfortable which is perfect for any busy teacher… but it can also be dressed up or down. Pair this utility jacket with jeans, white/light-colored pants, or belt it over a pencil skirt! Jacket {$89.95} and tank {$26.95} were both found at The Gap.
3.) A Comfortable Dress
Every woman wants to feel pretty and comfortable in what they wear. I feel like this is amplified when you’re wrangling children all day. 😉 This dress is insanely comfortable and is just as pretty. Another must for this comfy dress is being able to pair it with heels or flats. Whether you’re teaching in your classroom or working with parents at conferences, an easy-to-wear dress will be appropriate for any occasion. Dress {$69.50} can be found at The Empire Mall’s The Loft // Bag {$29.94} is from Old Navy.
4.) A Versatile Blouse
I’m all about pieces that can easily go from work to weekend. Teachers need them more than anyone! I say that because work to weekend wear is all about versatile pieces. Who needs versatile more than someone who is multi-tasking as much as our teachers?! Grabbing your favorite pair of dress pants is easy when you have a fun top to pair with them. It’s just as easy to pair the same top with your favorite jeans for life after the bell rings. This striped blouse {$59.90} and tassel necklace {$34.90} are both from Express at The Empire.
5.) A Pop of Color Shoe
I adore a fun shoe. If they’re also kind to your feet… I’m sold. Teachers spend a lot of time on their feet so the comfort is key. But when it comes to a must-have for school year closet planning, a shoe with a pop of color is where it’s at. Running late and don’t know what to wear? Cue the fun and vibrant shoe! Throw on your new basic tee with your trusty work pant and grab these bad boys! They take an otherwise average look to show-stopper in one easy step… pun intended. I love these Michael Kors flats {$99.00} from Younkers because they have the support all teachers need for their hardworking feet. They’re also sure to last all year… and beyond!
I want to thank the teachers {and former teachers!} reading this post. I am so grateful for what you do everyday and know it takes a very special person to educate our young people. We love you teachers! I wish you the best of luck this year… and I hope you enjoy it in style. 😉
