Five Years of Midwest In Style

I never thought I would be writing this blog post. Five years ago, on February 1st, 2015, I posted the first photo to a new Instagram account I created on a whim and named “Midwest In Style.” I had put very little thought into that name let alone into what the future of that account, and the blog that would soon follow, would hold.

Now here we are; five years, nearly 300 blog posts, over 1400 Instagram posts, and thousands of followers later. I’m rarely speechless but I truly can’t find the words to describe how this feels.

While I never set out on this journey with the intent of taking this online side-gig full-time, it has allowed me to experience things I never would have otherwise. Because of each of you, I have had the privilege of building a brand that I am so incredibly proud of.

Over the past five years I’ve been asked, “Who built your website?,” and “Who writes your weekly blog posts?,” or “Who styles your photos?,” and “Who does your marketing?” There is nothing more satisfying than replying to all of those questions with a resounding, “Me.”

This creative outlet has taught me so much about the power of self. With the creation of Midwest In Style, I have learned how to build a website, a social following, a strategic content calendar, a true brand and, most importantly, relationships. It hasn’t been easy. It was never handed to me and it certainly didn’t happen overnight. But I have learned so much and am so proud of what it has become.

Of course there have been countless people who have helped me along the way; from my family and friends to my marketing colleagues and photographer {shout out to you, Mads 😉 }. The list of those who have supported me and held my hand through the trial and error is lengthy but it’s full of the most incredible people that I’m beyond grateful to have in my life.

But, ultimately, this blog and social media following would be nothing without those of you who keep coming back day after day, week after week, to read and engage and shop the content I work so hard to create. I cannot thank you, dear reader, enough for five amazing years as Midwest In Style.
