We’re well past the half-way point of summer so I’m savoring every last moment of shorts weather. As much as we hate to admit it… the days are numbered, friends.
Only problem: shorts aren’t easy to come by. The good ones anyway. They’re either too short, too long or just plain uncomfortable. Well there are a couple of pleasing trends that are making denim shorts a little more appealing.
The two styles that I can’t live without this summer: destroyed boyfriend shorts and high-waisted shorts. And we’re now at a point in the year when you can grab them at a discount.
The destroyed boyfriend shorts trend solves the “too short for comfort” issue. The high-waisted shorts give the illusion of longer legs without compromising on the “too short” problem.
I’m sharing this look to show just how well that works. You can definitely find high-waisted shorts that are still too short and make things uncomfortable all day long but with the right pair you’ll avoid it. I’ve been living in this pair and I highly recommend them for your closet as well.
Another positive as it relates to the high-waisted shorts: all of those tie-detail or front-tuck-friendly tops look so good with them. I’m all for keeping summer outfits as uncomplicated as possible and breathable, light-weight tops are my go-to. This particular one is sold out but I’ve linked a number of similar options below.
The sneak peek at the fall trend I’m already embracing comes with these sandals. Animal print isn’t a new trend by any means but it’s going to be hot in the coming season. If you haven’t already, grab a pair of leopard print or snakeskin print shoes. You’ll thank me later. 😉
We have some really exciting things coming to the blog very, very soon. Things have been incredibly busy but in an exciting way. We can’t wait to share it with you all in the next few weeks. If you’re not already subscribed to Midwest In Style newsletter now is definitely the time! You’ll be the first to get word of the huge announcement!
