Another project checked off the list at the Jensen household. And it was a long overdue one at that.
Our bathroom renovation was not at the top of our priority list until we heard a drip {that, luckily, turned out to be nothing} but our exterior transformation was a different story.
The only real ‘need’ on the outside of our home was with our soffits and gutters. But when we were planning that portion, it made more sense to address the project as a whole.
I will never forget what my father-in-law {who just happens to be a realtor} said about this house before we even saw it. He sent me the address and said, “You have to see this one. It’s as cute as a button.” And boy was he right.
This house has curb appeal regardless of paint color. Here is the ‘before’ photo from our move-in day:
It wasn’t terrible, right?! It just wasn’t our style. Again – this entire house was a whole lot of brown. Not my deal.
No joke: I spent four months, starting this last spring, going back and forth on the exterior color. We painted swatch after swatch and my poor/forgiving hubby was certain they all looked the same. I am so glad I gave myself some time to consider the options {because grays are impossible!} We settled on Intellectual Gray by Sherwin Williams and I’m so in love with it.
Here’s how it looked prior to the shutters and new door going up:
This shows you just how great the color is but also how important those shutters are and how necessary that new door was to the overall transformation.
Our shutter, doors and detail color is Tricorn by Sherwin Williams. Our trim is Extra White by Sherwin Williams.
I wanted a really unique front door that was a total game changer for this house. The large four pane door took our entrance {both inside and out} to a whole new level. It’s so bright and inviting which is exactly what we wanted.
While the need for this exterior was more about the gutters {which totes cleaned up the look in a way we didn’t expect}, the want for a showstopping home has officially been checked off the list.
Check out more detail on our home’s exterior transformation below. We’re so excited to move on to the next project!
