After what feels like years {when in reality it’s been weeks 😉 }, I’m so excited to share our kitchen renovation! This project has been four years in the making and it has turned out even more beautifully than we dreamed. In this post you’ll get a virtual video tour through our kitchen with a look at every detail that has taken our home to a whole new level.
Hopefully you’ve kept up with all of the planning that has gone into updating this space. We have worked with three amazing companies, Kitchen Refresh, Moda Stone and Kohler, to bring our vision to life. Everything from design to installation to the final reveal has been timely, organized and truly seamless. It can be stressful to go through any renovation but the teams at Kitchen Refresh, Moda Stone and Kohler have made the entire process so much more exciting and fun than burdensome.
Before we dive into all of the details, I want to take us back to previous state. When we moved into this home nearly four years ago, the kitchen certainly wasn’t outdated but it definitely didn’t fit our style and taste. The cabinets were fairly new but the cream color did not coordinate with the white trim throughout the house.
We knew we wanted to tackle the kitchen at some point, but there were several projects that took precedent. We checked improvements like our upstairs bathroom, home exterior and basement off our list before we determined it was time to take on the kitchen update.
The whole process started with what we’ve referred to as ‘phase I’ of our main floor renovation: opening up the wall between the dining room and the kitchen. Then it was time for phase II: the kitchen renovation.
Here’s a reminder of what our kitchen looked like back in February.
| BEFORE |
We had updated the island and light fixture in November when we opened up the wall knowing it would need to be addressed in preparation for the kitchen renovation. Even that little piece of the puzzle made us so excited for the next step in this journey.
Design began in January. The Kitchen Refresh cabinet update took only two days. Next we installed our beautiful Kohler farmhouse sink in order to have Moda Stone come in to template and measure for the quartz. A couple of weeks later, our countertops were installed followed later that same day by our faucet. My wonderful husband and father-in-law put up the backsplash as the final detail.
All in all, the entire process only took a couple of weeks but the actual construction portion was so quick and minimally disruptive to our family.
If you want to know more about the design process, all of the details are in the blog posts on the cabinets, countertops and sink & faucet.
But let’s get to the reason you’re all here: the final reveal.
