Lately, there’s nothing that’s making me happier than midi skirts. I have yet to find an occasion that they don’t work for. They’re probably the most versatile piece in your closet because of their length, ability to dress up or down, and how long you can wear! A great midi skirts can basically be worn all year long depending on pattern.
This particular one I’m styling for this post is obviously designed for spring, summer and maybe early fall. But if you choose a solid pattern, there is no season when a midi skirt isn’t appropriate.
I have shared my deep love for these basic tanks before due to their fit, comfort and affordability {under $9!}. They make the perfect basic to pair with jackets, cardigans, skirts, jeans… you name it! With a number of color options, there are endless possibilities.
As for the right shoe, I prefer a wedge for spring and summer. Come fall and winter I would lean toward an ankle boot.
I’ve worn this outfit for a casual night downtown and also with a jean jacket for the office. Each time I received so many compliments on the look! I’ve linked a number of midi skirts I’m currently loving below. Several are very spring or summer focused while others can easily carry you into fall and winter.
Oh.. also… if you’re here for the big announcement… keep scrolling… 😉

Now for the piece of news we’ve been patiently {or more impatiently.. 😉 } waiting to share with you all…
We’re building!
After all of the fun we’ve had renovating our current home, we have decided to build a house we plan to live in for many years to come.
While we have absolutely loved our 1931 historic home, the perfect opportunity for our next chapter came about much sooner than we ever expected, but we couldn’t pass it by. All of the hard work we’ve put into renovating our current home has been so rewarding and has also been a major learning experience for us. This new build is so exciting and totally new territory for our family!
Thankfully, we are leaning on some amazing experts to guide us along the way. The exterior of this home was already predetermined by the time we purchased it but it is exactly what we have dreamed about for our family. As for the interior, we are making all design choices along the way as nothing had been predetermined beyond the layout.
We are so excited to have the opportunity to make the interior exactly what we want but we quickly realized there are SO many choices to make! To ensure we’re making the best decisions for our family and our style, we’re partnering with the design team at the Holland House in Orange City, IA! I have been waiting to work with them for quite some time and have just been waiting for the right project. Marie and her team have already been a dream to work with and there’s so much more to come!
Just as we’ve done with the home renovation projects, we’ll be taking you along for the ride as we work on our biggest family project yet. Next week, we plan to share the design scheme for the interior including flooring, cabinet colors and countertops! You’ll also get a look at the rendering of the exterior.
There will be weekly updates via IG stories but there will be so many details shared right here so make sure you’re subscribed to the newsletter!
