Temps are heating up so keeping cool is at the top of the priority list again. I’m not willing to compromise style as we embrace the heat. Just as I’ve loved the paperbag pants trend, the high-waisted shorts version is perhaps {gasp} even better.
The key to success with pulling off any paperbag pant and/or shorts: keep whatever you put on top a little fitted. Let the paperbag styling stay loose and flow away from your body. The high-waisted component allows you to define the shape of your natural waist. Whatever you wear on your upper half needs to be formfitting to balance the baggy-ness of the bottom half. And if you’re digging the pair I’m sporting here… you’re going to love that they’re under $40!
I’m consistently drawn to high neckline tops and it’s no exception when it comes to tank tops. They’re modest and I would venture to say no one looks bad in a high neckline. The classic stripe seen here adds a subtle pattern and even though this particular top is from a few seasons back, I’ve found plenty of comparable options for you to use as you copy this outfit inspiration.
I also enjoy the little taste of print mixing you see in this outfit with the leopard print sandal. I find myself wearing a pattern in my shoes more often than not during the summer months. As I am motivated by temperature control with my outfits, I feel comfortable reaching for a basic top and/or shorts just to dress up the look with a fun shoe.
Do you have great styling tricks that you go to during the heat?!
