Sweater season is upon us but let’s talk about shacket season. This is year two of the shirt jacket (i.e. shacket) trend and I fully bought in back in 2020 so I couldn’t be happier that we’re seeing it come back around.
I’ve been seeing them everywhere and they’re just so easy to throw on with jeans and a basic tee that honestly if we grabbed a shacket every day of the week who could blame us?
I will say, I have found the good shackets are somewhere in that $50-$150 range which can sometimes be on the higher end of what I’m willing to spend on a trend that I know will eventually be outdated. However, the Midwestern temps we deal with from now until, roughly, early May justify spending a little more.
This fun layering piece is going to get plenty of use I can promise you.
I had a conversation recently about what to look for in a shacket. If you’re more on the petite side you can go for a number of color options and the oversized look is perfect right now. If you’re on the busty or curvy side, the only additional tip I would give you is to go for lighter colors like the one I’m wearing here. It will visually slim the look in comparison to a darker color.
I’ve rounded up some of my favorite shackets below. You’ll find a variety of price points and if you have yet to add one to your closet for fall, winter and even spring I can promise you won’t regret the purchase.
