I’ve been shopping so much less than I have in years past but there are a few items I’m planning to add to my fall closet this year that I think will lend themselves well to mixing and matching with items I already own and love.
I’m leaning into a more minimal, core closet format and everything I’m highlighting here is aligned to that. Each piece can be dressed up or down; adding a fresh take on classic items I go back to time and again.
6 Fall Pieces I’m Adding to My Closet
The “old money” striped sweater is a must-have for fall. I plan to pair it with jeans, skirts and ponte pants for a variety of looks.
The options I’ve linked here come at a variety of price points for an elevated and sophisticated outfits but at a fraction of the price.
We all need a textured blazer. Think houndstooth, knits, wool blends and other cozy vibes.
Throw them over a sweatshirt for a casual take or pair with a work pant and a sweater for an office-ready option.
Barrel jeans are huge right now but they’re a little too trendy for my taste. This pair is technically a barrel style but toned down to the point that they fit more like a boyfriend cut. I just purchased this exact pair and I’ve already worn them a ton!
I’ve liked wearing them with pumps to balance the more masculine style but they’ll also look good with a square toe flat.
Speaking of square toe flats…
I’m still loving the metallic accents so whether you prefer a silver or a gold finish, I feel like at least one pair of metallic flats is a must for this season.
I love graphic sweatshirts as much as I love graphic t-shirts. I have styled them similar to what you see above but I’ve also been known to layer one with a button up and a dress pant or cropped wide leg for the office.
I also think layering a textured blazer (like I linked above) is a fun way to dress up a crew neck sweatshirt and stay cozy when temps start to dip.
You want to talk about my personal kryptonite? Jeans and jackets.
The bomber and varsity jacket is having a moment. I’m personally here for it. I like to keep the bomber jacket a neutral color so it can be paired with everything from hoodies to graphic tees to a satin dress and sneakers!
