My fingers are still crossed that fall decides to last more than two weeks in the Midwest and so far we’ve been stuck in summer mode so who knows what next week will bring! We know eventually there will be a cold snap and likely none of us will be mentally prepared for it but we can adequately prepare our closets.
If you’ve been a long-time reader of Midwest In Style, you know I choose investment pieces very wisely. Things like handbags, denim and timeless shoe styles are what I’m willing to spend more money on.
Sweaters are one of those closet staples that I can’t live without but I rarely keep very many from season to season. Thus: it doesn’t make a lot of sense for me to spend more than roughly $50 on a sweater because I know I’m going to part ways with it once the weather warms up again.
There are so many great sweater styles right now and while I tend to gravitate toward neutral colors with sweaters, I also try to embrace pops of color! I’m sharing a variety of styles and colors for you to shop but all of them are under that $50 price point.
One of the things I looking forward to with our new home build: my new closet! Right now I’ve refrained from breaking out my sweater stash because I don’t want to have to unpack it all twice. Plus our current closet situation is less than ideal because while it’s a deep closet – it’s very hard to see what you’re working with. I plan to share all of the details of the closet at the new house once it’s finalized!
One word of advice on storing your sweaters, regardless of if they’re investment pieces or not: fold and stack them. Don’t hang them. They take up too much space and even the best hangers seem to ruin them! Have another great sweater storage secret?! Share it with us in the comments below!
