I think, after five plus years of dressing my sweet littles, I have somewhat perfected the art of shopping for kiddos. It definitely took some time and a lot of trial and error but I’ve compiled my top five tips for all of you! I’m also sharing my current favorites for boys and girls as we get ready for the spring season. AND I’ve linked my top five retailers that I have the greatest success as I shop for our babies. Enjoy!
COMFORT
As much as I shop for comfort for myself, I am even more conscious of it for my kids. We all know that if they’re not comfortable they’re likely not going to wear it. Fabrics play a huge role in this and cotton my personal favorite… for obvious reasons. 😉
DURABLE
I’ve spent a significant amount of time figuring out which stores offer items that can withstand the constant wash and wear cycle. Even though those kiddos outgrow things often, we all know that it’s important that the things you’re purchasing can take the wear and tear.
FIT
Not all children’s retailers are created equal when it comes to fit. Some get really boxy and short. Others tend to start out okay but shrink or stretch out with just one or two washes.
COST
When you don’t know how long they’re going to wear these items before they inevitably outgrow them, you don’t want to break the bank. There’s a balance when it comes to not wanting to pay crazy prices while not sacrificing quality.
STYLE
Obviously style is important! This component has evolved for me as a mama. In the beginning when they’re babies, you’re solely in charge of their style. But as each of their interests and personalities develop, I have tried to let those things shine through in their outfits.
