It feels like forever since we’ve taken a family vacation. In reality, we had a mini getaway to Okoboji, Iowa back in June but because of COVID-19 that feels like an entire lifetime ago. 😉 Thank goodness we’re taking some time away again to escape reality for a bit. Next week we’re headed to Colorado!
We’ve had this trip planned for quite some time and while the original plan was to fly into Denver and then drive to our final destination of Edwards, we’ve decided to hit the road to eliminate the unnecessary air-time. We’ll take on the 730+ miles and pray we can entertain our kids on the nearly 12 hour drive. Send coffee and podcasts my way, please. 😉
All jokes aside I’m really looking forward to the vacation. The last time I drove to Colorado was when I was in college for a girls’ trip with my mom, sister and one of our dear family friends. We had so much fun and the memories are still so vivid for me. I can’t wait to enjoy this next Colorado adventure with my little family.
While I love a curated travel outfit, I’m going to be keeping this packing experience very comfortable, casual and practical. The one “fun top” I’m bringing is the one you see above. Normally I would say that I plan to wear that tie-dye cutie to dinner one night but I’m not sure we’ll be eating out. We’re fortunate to have a family friend’s private home as our cabin for the week so we’ll be doing a lot of cooking there. But I’m sure I can make up an excuse to wear this off-the-shoulder number while we’re there.
Beyond that I’m packing my go-to jean shorts, my new favorite straight leg jeans, leggings, sandals, tennis shoes and a lot of t-shirt and tank top variety. I want to be able to mix and match throughout the week but know I will never be compromising practicality.
I’m sharing what’s currently on my packing list {note I’m a chronic over-packer} below as many of these pieces are new arrivals in my wardrobe and so affordable that they’re worth considering for your own closet regardless of if you have travel plans or not.
If you have COVID-safe travel suggestions for Denver, Vail or Edwards, Colorado, please share them with me below! I’m considering doing a travel guide once we get home but it will truly depend on how much of it will be helpful post-pandemic. Stay tuned to Instagram for updates on the trip in real time!
