All of the sudden it feels like nothing fits my kids. Both of them. Go figure. On the bright side, as we transition into the next season, it’s time to find pieces that will carry them from spring into summer.
Social distancing or not, I prefer to shop for my kids online. I tend to go back to the same brands over and over again for their wardrobe staples because I know their sizes, I know I am going to get quality for the frequency of wear and I know I’m not going to compromise style to get it.
I know I’ve covered this same topic several years ago when the kids were younger and while some of these brands are repeats from that post (yes they’re still that good!), there are a few that I tend to gravitate toward more now that they’re older and a new level of active.
Now I don’t have kids that will wear whatever I want them to; trust me. As much as I wish that was the case, they’re still kids and they’re to that age where they have their own opinions about what they put on in the morning. We spend Sunday evening before bed packing our “bins.” This is when we fill five bins per child with everything they need to get dressed in the morning. We then push them under their beds so that when they wake up in the morning, they are able to pull out a bin to get themselves dressed all on their own.
While we’re packing bins on Sundays, Carsten begs for sweatpants as much as possible. I don’t want him to completely ditch jeans (more out of principle than anything) so I compromise as much as I can throughout the process to keep us both happy. Blakely, on the other hand, prefers short sleeve shirts and leggings. In her perfect world she would wear shorts every day but I’ve had that practical, Midwest weather-related conversation with her enough that she understands why that’s just not possible.
I hope you’ll find that these retailers that I frequent for my kids’ clothes will also help you in filling your child or children’s closet(s) with items both you and your kids can love.
